Same with going into windy areas and being afraid of getting turned around or lost when oxygen is low and you don't have a seatruck to hop in to restore your oxygen (or it is too far away). Say goodbye to the Aurora and the crater edge, and hello to the icy wonderland that is Sector Zero. Not necessarily scary, but tense for sure. Here are 13 exciting new features we’ll be seeing in Below Zero. So for me, diving down to try and reach new areas, hoping to snag those oxygen plants, and then blasting up with the bladder to barely survive were still tense moments. I was doing some mid story stuff and still never had the seatruck at all, nor any oxygen upgrades beyond the starting tank. was more unsettling.Īnd I think you can still have that to some degree in this game, though it depends how you end up doing it. But the diving deep, going to new dark areas, etc. Though I might be in a somewhat different position, as the very first big reaper I ran into I was chasing with my knife originally - it didn't feel scary right off the bat. Which is fine, but if you already have seen it, it gets less troublesome.Įven in the original, once you figured it out it became a far less scarier ordeal. A lot of the maneuvering of sea creatures feels the same and several work very much the same as in the previous game. ![]() Uses: Their eggs can be used as biofuel to produce 119 energy. ![]() ![]() Their eggs can also be found in the Glacial Connection. Besides being more familiar with the game style, it is very much a Subnautica 1.5. In the original game, these creatures spawned countless YouTube videos of creators reacting to seeing or being attacked by them for the first time. It also bugs out a lot and just looks a little bit goofy. By far the biggest feature of Subnautica: Below Zero is the leviathan class creatures that roam the waters. Big ice tunneller worm is a little freaky, until you realise it can only come out of the ground in set locations making it very predictable - not scary. Land areas are just that, not scary at all. End game area isn't special, no terrifying reveal of a big end game creature like emperor leviathan. The second leviathan actually looks like a purple tier over watch skin of the ghost leviathan. Both just variations on ones from the first game. There aren't as many scary, strange predators. Its fair to say this is a feature a lot of users really wanted for browsing the website and it has been the most upvoted suggestion on the feedback board since we opened it earlier in the year. Game is a lot brighter and a lot more shallow, don't expect deep dark areas of the sea where you can hear but not sea things. Weve added a new option to your Content Blocking settings which enables adult content but blurs out the tiles and images by default. Loads of other animals make the same 'leviathan screech sound' in the first areas, desensitise you to them almost immediately, so when you hear an actual leviathan screech your'e just not bothered. A collection of critters conceived for Below Zero mostly late in production to explore possible novel gameplay. The 'standard' leviathan (basically this games version of the reaper) is a lot smaller and it wasn't obscured the the darkness in the distance when I first saw it (might have just been my experience.
